Dr. Kaleem Arshad

Following six months work at East Louisiana State Hospital as a staff psychiatrist and admission program director, I began private practice in the New Orleans area. While engaged in private practice, I have held several leadership positions in various psychiatric hospitals and institutions over the last three decades. I served as Medical Director and Chief of Medical Staff at Methodist Psychiatric Pavillion, Psychiatric Pavillion of New Orleans, Seaside Behavioral Center and Oceans Behavioral Hospital of Greater New Orleans.

I directed a psychiatric emergency room at West Jefferson Medical Center for six years. I served as Regional Medical Director of Mental Health Network and Executive Vice President of Evergreen Healthcare Management prior to 2005. I founded a professional medical corporation, Physician Care, in 1994. The corporation medically managed and directed several psychiatric hospitals and programs in the New Orleans area in coordination with other psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners as part of the private practice group.

I have taught medical students, residents, and fellows at Louisiana State University School of Medicine and St Martinus University College of Medicine. I hold faculty positions as Assistant Clinical Professor at LSU School of Medicine and Tulane University School of Medicine as well as  Visting Professor at St Martinus University College of Medicine. I have been involved in the training of psychiatric nurse practitioners at the University of Alabama, the University of South Alabama and Southeast Louisiana University.
